This Women’s Month has been rather special and I had the opportunity to attend many women empowerment events this year. For the first time in my life I realized how important it is to share one’s story and to network with ambitious women.
Since the start of Shweshwekini Active Wear, I have been so blessed to receive recognition for my work, particularly around Women’s Month.
This year I was honoured to have been invited to attend the Pink Power Women’s Event at the beginning of August in Johannesburg. This was filled with so many women from corporate, entrepreneurs and also some fashion designers too.
I also had the privilege of attending the United Nations and Born to Succeed Youth Dialogue on Women’s Day (9 August). All of these events have made me reflect on the difficulties women still face in society, whether it is in getting education, working or running a business or a household, women always have to prove themselves. Despite this, I have come to learn that there is so much value and potential in women and we must harness it.
On Friday 30 August I was honoured to be recognized by the Mail & Guardian as one of the Women Changing South Africa in the Business and Entrepreneurship category for 2019. I was also the youngest person in this category.

On 31 August 2019, I closed off my #Women’s Month as a guest speaker at the Bloom Inside Out event. The experience was both humbling and rewarding as I got to learn about personal branding and also share my Shweshwekini story with the ladies at the event.
Based on all the above, this has truly been a #WomensMonth for the books and one to remember.
I hope next year will be bigger and better and remember to Bloom wherever you are. But most importantly, know who you are, know your power and hustle hard!
