Amarula Shweshwekini
Shweshwekini Founder – Mapitso Thaisi (aka SothoGirlDiairies) at the Amarula Cocktail Bar
If you had told me last year this time that my business would turn 1 at an exclusive event, collaborating with Brands like the Radisson Red, Amarula and Thabo Makheta- I’d probably wouldn’t have launched my swimwear because I would have chickened out. Well, I never chickened out, hence why I ended up celebrating the brand’s 1 year in business in a Mariha style. Mariha is a Sesotho word for “winter” and this year Thabo Makhetha and Shweshwekini collaborated on a lifestyle fashion showcase featuring our latest winter 18 collection.

MARIHA XP – The Sponsors

I collaborated with the awesome team from Radisson Red. Why them? Not because of the convenience of their venue, but because of their new hotel philosophy that connects with ageless millennial mindset ( like mine) through art, music and fashion and that’s exactly what ShweShwekini is about. The creativists. I can’t  thank the team at Radisson Red V&A enough for their hospitality and service.

Then there was Amarula, the official sponsor for the event, who not only attracted the crowd with their delicious cocktails, but kept people coming back for their friendly service and mouth watering cocktails.

Our guests were treated to Amarula cocktails on arrival.

The totally also had me changing my cake decor  to align with the brand. A very delicious cake after all, which served as our dessert at the end of the buss and festivities which ended with a roaring “happy birthday” tune for Shweshwekini.

More than anything, Amarula is originally African and it is a cream liqueur from South Africa. Its  collaboration with ShweShwekini and Thabo Makhetha – both original  South African brands, shows the plight of big local brand embracing and supporting other up-coming brands and I am so thankful for their sponsorship and collaboration.

Our guests also enjoyed free pampering from the Mangwanani team, which everybody enjoyed and delighted after dancing and networking.

While we have collaborated before, in our summer collection, we also had the pleasure of working with Thabo Makhetha again and she showcased her latest Mariha collection resembling the rich colors of the Basotho Blankets. This was the closing show for the event and the crowd loved the creative designs, rich in the Basotho blanket colours. If you would like to purchase any of the pieces visit their website  to shop for the items. It’s always an honor and a privilege to work alongside Thabo Makheta. And that’s how I celebrated ShweShwekini’s first 365 days in business. The collaboration was one truly African, to celebrate the rich cultural authenticity of South Africa and one of networking and meeting the supporters behind our successful brands. Thank you for taking the time to be at our event, watch for a Shweshwekini Spring/Summer ’18 special coming soon. Please scroll down for further highlights from the event.   Until next time, continue your amazing support for Proudly South African Brands. xoxo Mapitso Thaisi
