Happy Women’s Day South Africa

Every year on the 9th of August we celebrate Women’s Day as a commemoration of a march taken by more than 20 000 South African women of all races on 9 August 1956 to the Union Buildings in protest against the proposed amendments to the Urban Areas Act of 1950, commonly referred to as the “pass laws”. This law was in place to maintain the segregation of races in South Africa under the apartheid regime.

Thanks to these women, today we are free to be and become better women in society.
